Blossoms of Genius: How One Street Sparked a Global Symphony
On October 21, 2025 Arlington dedicated Blossom Street to the world renowned classic composer Alan Hovhaness. The street sign’s unveiling is a reminder of the town’s great history and the individuals who made it great.
In 1915 the Hovhaness family settled in Arlington on Blossom Street, where Alan’s curiosity for creating mystically pleasing music began. The local scenery and neighborhood environment contributed to his evolving music journey.
The efforts of the Public Memorial Committee, the Select Board, DPW team, Jack Johnston, Ara Ghazarians, Michael Armanious, and Alan Jones, collaborated to make this project a reality.
In attendance for the Blossom Street sign dedication were: Alan Jones, Ara Ghazarians, Bill Holst, Coleen Holst, and Michael Armanious.
