Hovhaness was profoundly influenced by the natural beauty of Seattle—Mount Rainier, the Cascade Mountains, evergreen forests, and the region’s fresh, clean air all shaped the imagery and spirit found throughout his music.
However, in recent years, changes in estate administration and related policies, including substantial estate taxes that placed considerable strain on the continuation of HFMC, made it increasingly difficult to sustain operations in Seattle. After careful consideration, the decision was made to relocate in order to ensure the long-term stability and accessibility of Hovhaness’s musical legacy.
This relocation does not change the core mission or daily operations of HFMC. We remain fully committed to distributing and supporting Alan Hovhaness’s music worldwide. Our new website, AlanHovhanessMusic.com, will significantly streamline music access and purchasing, making scores and materials more efficient and accessible to performers, educators, and audiences.
In addition, we are working toward expanding the website to include Hovhaness CDs and recordings for direct purchase in the near future.
